Sen. Kelvin Butler has awarded three $500 college scholarships to District 38 students. The scholarships were given on Sept. 27 to Jonathan Buggage of Pike County, Tiarra Johnson of Amite County and Jacqueline Stewart of Wilkinson County. Johnson and Stewart are attending Alcorn State University and Buggage is attending Southwest Mississippi Community College. It marked the fifth year that Butler, chairman of the Senate Local and Private Committee, has assisted incoming freshmen in furthering their education.
