Jammin1- let me applaud you for your investigative reporting. LOL!!! If you travel around this big country of ours, I challenge you to open the local newspapers and see for yourself how pure and pristine things are elsewhere. We don't live in Shangra-la friend but it could be a heck of a lot worse!! I'll take Louisiana over lots of other places any day. If you live here and feel that way, then leave. That's MY definition of a cop out. If you don't live in LA then you don't have anything to worry about do you????

Court documents place the time of these overpayment of benefits from July 2001 to July 2005. A four year period.

Jammin 1 - commentary does not clear the way for criminals to escape punishment. This woman is awaiting sentencing. She has obviously not escaped judgement. As for anyone else going to prison, a good look at our local light-handed judicial decisions concerning crimes of a much uglier nature should make you realize that this type of behavior does not match up. As for Louisiana being stigmatized as the MOST CORRUPT state in the country, that's a bunch of horse puckey.

I'm sure that this lady is not St. Gabriel material. I'm very sure that this story is being blown WAY out of proportion because of her husband and son's political careers. I've known of lots of these type of cases and they DID NOT make the headlines.

Oliver- the reason you can't see the mistake is because the article has been corrected about an hour or so ago. It originally stated that "Gremillion is the wife of third circuit court of appeal Shannon Gremmilion and the former wife of appellate judge Glenn Gremillion."

Torch- I did not rule out the use of a spanking as a means of deterring a child from some type of misbehavior. Rather, what I DID rule out was the out-of-control beatings that some wish to inflict on children/adults to take out pent up anger. I also received my fair share of "butt whippings" as you put it. I don't put as much stock in them as you do, and I certainly don't agree that some people need to be hurt to learn lessons. That's barbaric thinking.

Feed The Hungry is doing great work. Judging from the number of people at the church on your distribution days I'd say that there is a great need in our area. The thanks should be going to YOU!
